About the Royal Queensland Art Society
Royal Queensland Art Society, the state’s oldest art society, is a not-for-profit organisation, established in 1887 and obtaining royal patronage in 1926.
With an established history of more than 135 years, the RQAS offers opportunities to artists at all levels and facilitating networking, mentorship and cross pollination of artists in a diverse range of media.
We run a variety of exhibitions, both RQAS and private, for 48 weeks of the year, as well as a regular program of workshops, artist talks and life drawing.
At the RQAS Brisbane Branch, our mission is to build upon the RQAS’s legacy of supporting local artists and the community, becoming the gallery of choice for the next 100 years.
Our Vision is to grow, strengthen and promote the fine arts within our community and provide opportunities for local visual artists to exhibit, learn and network in a professional environment which is inclusive, diverse and supportive; providing the community with a vibrant creative space.
