Growing up in a leafy suburb near its banks, the river was my childhood playground. Today it is still the backdrop to my life. I went to university in the city, I work there now, and I constantly walk, run and commute along the water's edge. Having spent a lifetime watching this specific stretch of the river, I know that it never looks the same twice. This painting captures that constant change.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt shows the tall towers of the Brisbane skyline with the river in the foreground, bathed in the warm afternoon light glowing from the west over Mt Coot-tha. I used a varied brushwork to capture the dynamic time of day, the shifting tides, and the changing light reflecting off the city.
