A still life, executed in its entirety from life, incorporating the Mandeville, a tropical flowering vine known as the Rocktrumpet, intertwines with a rendering of a copy of one of Degas' dancing figure maquettes.
Kay studied fine arts in London, and had several one-woman shows and major exhibits in London galleries. She is a Fellow and former president of the Royal Queensland Art Society and has gained a Doctorate in the Visual Arts at QCA for a work entitled “The Restoration of Venus,” aimed at retrieving a classical ideal of beauty. She has won multiple awards and is a highly regarded judge, including being one of our judging panel for the 2026 Queen’s Wharf Brisbane Art Prize. Kay also continues teaching and mentoring artists.
