I am a predominantly abstract expressionist artist based in Brisbane, working intuitively with colour, movement, and spontaneous mark‑making. My practice is driven by exploration rather than predetermined outcomes; each painting evolves through layers of gesture, energy, and response. I also create occasional abstract landscapes, but even these lean toward expressionism, where atmosphere and emotion take precedence over literal representation.
Colour is central to my work. I’m drawn to bold contrasts, shifting temperatures, and the sense of momentum that emerges when colours collide or dissolve into one another. I am continually pushing toward larger, wilder works that allow this movement to expand across the canvas.
Titles usually arrive at the end of the process, when the painting reveals its own character. Embers was named for the impression it left the moment I stepped back from it — a sense of heat, glow, and lingering energy. I rarely begin with a fixed idea; instead, I follow the rhythm of the work until it settles into something that feels true.
My paintings have been collected in Australia and internationally, and it’s a pleasure to share this piece with you. I hope it brings you a moment of connection, curiosity, or simply the enjoyment of colour and movement.
