Jared Fountain is an Australian classical painter who focuses on the archetypal and mythical tales of the outsider and the underworld journey. He uses his own personal experiences and dreams to illustrate these themes and as a source of content. Jared undertook a Bachelors degree of Creative Arts in Australia but was dissatisfied with the lack of technical expertise and the pressure to paint within the modernist/contemporary framework and instead decided to pursue his own love of the old masters. This has since led him to study with Odd Nerdrum in 2025. 

Painters that Jared draws a great deal of inspiration from are not only Odd Nerdrum but also Corneliu Baba from Romania along with the late Rembrandt and Titian.
The Drawing ""Ghosts"" is a study of the ancient snow gums that straddle the snowy mountains of Australia their twisted and gnarled forms are often reminiscent of strange ghostly figures and this drawing seeks to capture that haunting atmosphere that predominates amidst their presence.
