Although I have been practicing art on and off over the past fifteen years, I still consider myself an emerging artist - continually learning, refining and evolving. I have learnt techniques and approaches with various art tutors and have participated in several exhibitions and art competitions along the way. At its core, my art is a personal outlet, a time for creative expression, reflection, and balance within the demands of my everyday life.
Metamorphosis explores the tension between light and shadow, movement and stillness. Vibrant colour fields pulse across the surface, layered with a textured, tactile depth, inviting the viewer to experience both energy and weight. Amid the bright colours, darker areas emerge and shadowed butterflies appear - representations of quiet resistance and reflection.
The butterflies symbolise transformation and carry the imprint of what has come before. Shaped by both joy and sadness, their shadowed forms suggest the lingering presence of every past experience - moments that cannot be erased, only integrated.
This piece represents a turning point: a time to fly. It acknowledges that moving forward is not about forgetting, but about acceptance and release. The juxtaposition of bold colour and dark imagery reflect the complexity of letting go - honouring the past, both good and bad, while choosing not to be defined by it.
This artwork invites the viewer to reflect on their own moments of transition and the courage it takes to step into something new, carrying only what’s necessary and leaving the rest behind.
