About
I am a Brisbane-based artist who has lived nearly all my life in Queensland. Trained in oil and acrylic painting, I currently work mostly with watercolour. Landscapes are my love. My happiest days find me out sketching local places, usually with members of Urban Sketchers. Special sketches or events inspire my works; they form a very personal diary of places I feel an immersive connection to. I seek to convey this feeling through my art expression; The shifting light, weather, mood, and human connection as important to me as literal form.
A beautifully serene foggy morning of August 2024 inspired Misty Morning Kangaroo Point. I was on my apartment balcony before dawn to catch the forecast fog, as it drifted softly upriver from the south-west toward me. The clear sunny morning slowly gave way to a beautiful sunlit veil. This work was a meditation to create. What a joy it is to live above the fabulous Brisbane River and experience all manner of its moods.
'Misty Morning Kangaroo Point' won People's Choice and 2nd Prize in the 2025 RQAS Members Annual Watercolour section.
