About
Pinky Heart” is more than a portrait of a child. It is a quiet reflection of the journey that brought me to art—a journey shaped by loss, grief, and rediscovery.
I hold a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and devoted many years to scientific research. Art was always a silent dream I thought I would pursue “someday.” But life had other plans. At the peak of my academic career, I lost most of my vision. What followed was not just physical blindness, but a profound emotional darkness.
In time, I turned to art as a way to reconnect with the world and with myself. Working with colored pencils, I began teaching myself to draw—focusing at first on eyes, the very place where everything had changed for me.
“Pinky Heart” was born out of that rediscovery. The young girl’s eyes are calm, yet full of presence. She holds a white heart—not as decoration, but as something deeply symbolic. Love, vulnerability, hope—the very things we often try to protect quietly.
Even though I now work with a small and blurry portion of vision, I’ve found a new way of seeing—through feeling, through memory, and through emotion. I don’t draw because I see clearly; I draw because I feel deeply.
To me, this child holding a fragile heart reflects not only innocence, but also the quiet strength we carry when we survive pain and still choose to protect what’s soft and sacred within us.
