Summer Light: Childhood

Oil

My work is inspired by the natural world, the play of light and colour, and the memories we attach to places.

Summer Light: Childhood is based on memories of my children when they were little, exploring the rockpools at Caloundra. The summer light catching the water, the warmth of the rocks and those long days spent by the sea. Time seemed to move a little slower back then. Through this painting, I wanted to capture a little of that feeling — those fleeting days of childhood that you don’t realise are so precious until they’re gone.
