About
My work has always been a response to memory and place. Collected and discarded objects found in the urban and natural environment, china fragments and recurring motifs(totems, nests, towers, vessels, tangled and weathered forms)used as subject matter hint at both calm and turbulent narratives. Images in flight, afloat, immersed or scattered are chosen to evoke past and present history. The tangled and wrapped forms of figures represents the intertwining of life and thoughts and the threads that bind us together.
Trained in painting, drawing, ceramics at Queensland College of Art I studied printmaking from 2010-2016 at the Brisbane Institute of Art with Wim de Voss, Carolyn Craig and Gwenn Tasker. Now working from my Brisbane studio I continue to pursue different printmaking forms, paint in oils and watercolour and create 3D assemblages in rice paper, wax, mixed media and collage. I have held 17 solo exhibitions and participated in group and selected exhibitions for 29 years, give workshops in mixed media and printmaking and have won over 18 art awards. My work is held in public and private collections in Australia and internationally.
